BUUUUSSSSSYYYY

Things are going well! I don’t have a lot of time because things have been crazy! Nothing really exciting happened this week though so I will just leave you with my testimony!

It is amazing to see my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ grow! I know without a doubt in my mind that this is the true church. The more I study the scriptures and the gospel the more everything just makes sense and fits together! I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve a mission and even though I miss everything and everyone terribly there isnt a place that I would rather be than on my mission! I love you all and Congrats to Grady and Ceara! Ceara, welcome to the family! Love you both!

Who We Are

I don’t have a whole lot to write about since its only been a few days since I wrote last but on Saturday we were given a talk by a member that we read and it puts a lot in to perspective! It was a talk give by Tad R. Callister during an Education Week called, Our Identity and Destiny.

He talks about how when we know who we really are, and tells us how we can be come like God! He gives the talk in a conversation format between a "Critic" and Member of the Church. He gives five witnesses that show how we know we can become like God. I will quickly sum them up but I HIGHLY recommend everyone read listen or watch the talk!

1. The Scriptures
2. Early Christian Writers
3.Poets and Authors
4.Logic
5.History

Once we know who we really are, it helps us see where we are going!

"However many generations in your mortal ancestry, no matter what race or people you represent, the pedigree of your spirit can be written on a single line. You are a child of God!"

I love love LOVE this quote from the talk. WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD! A lot of times I think we say it but don’t really think about what that REALLY means. When adults create life they don’t create more adults, they create babies! The same logic can be applied to God. Just because babies are not born adults it does not mean that they wont become adults! Same applies to us! Just because we are not Gods now does not mean we will not become Gods. And just like a baby has parents to teach it how to grow up and learn and grow, the same goes for us and God. God is always trying to teach us how we can learn and grow so that we can become like him! Ultimately that is what the Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ is about! The more I study the gospel the more I see how everything fits together and makes sense! Don’t be afraid that when you have a question that doesn’t makes sense that it will NEVER make sense! Because it will. In time. Our life is not over. Even in life to come we will always be learning! We must be patient with ourselves and all things will be made known to us! I love you all and I am praying for you all!

Welp! I don’t know about you but my mind is blown! Definitely something to think about! I LOVE IT! 😀

The Lord’s Hand In All Things

Oh boy what a week! Or week and a half I guess! This week I have seen several times the protection and guidance by the Holy Ghost.

Last Tuesday we got in our car to drive to the local food pantry to do service! As we started driving we heard and felt the left side tire start to shake and rattle. We drove a couple of miles with it and then pulled over to get out and check the tires. When we checked them we found that ALL of the lug nuts on the left side of the car were finger loose! It was obvious that someone had tried to steal our tires or tried to get us to wreck. With the lug nuts being that loose the tires could have easily fallen off and killed us! I was grateful that this did not happen and that we were protected and kept safe.

A few nights ago, we went to an investigators house, with a member, to go teach a lesson. When we got inside the 3 of us all felt like something was wrong but we all just thought it was us so we didn’t say anything about it. Elder Wright suggested to the investigator that we pray to help invite the spirit. As we did this two police officers knocked on the door. They had knocked on the wrong door but while they were talking to the investigator Elder Wright turned to me and said “Do you feel that?” I responded to him “Yes I think we need to leave.” “Me too.” He said. We got up to leave and we left with a prayer with the investigator (We always do). As we were praying I felt the urgency to leave increase. After the prayer we quickly drove away, and as we left the neighborhood a feeling of peace came upon all 3 of us. As we talked about it on the way to take the member home, I mentioned how I felt like one of us would have gotten hurt if we stayed and then an overwhelming feeling of gratitude overcame me because we had been protected and guided away from danger.

I know that as we listen to those promptings of the Spirit we are guided and protected. Not only for just protection but we can be guided as to who we can assist with our talents. I have really been learning how to recognize and act on those promptings of the Spirit, regardless of how crazy they may seem or sound! I know that the Lord will bless us and keep us safe as we talk those steps of faith to listen to even the smallest promptings! As we show Him that we trust Him, He will bless us! He wants to bless us! He loves us! I love you all! Be safe and I hope all is well!

Story #2!

Lucky you guys you get 2! Stories from me!

When I was in Hawaii my cousin Travis showed us this where he tells the story of his conversion from being a 3rd year Seminary student in the Catholic Church to being baptized and serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I love this whole talk but there is one part I am talking about today, and linking to which starts at 53:04, I encourage you to listen to the whole talk its about an hour long, but anyways! We were listening to this talk when I was in Hawaii and this last part hit me like a ton of bricks, It talks about how this lady who they teach and gets baptized and get’s her patriarchal blessing and it says she would have been baptized 25 years sooner if someone else had answered their mission call to serve a mission! BUT SHE DIDN’T BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T GO! This just smashed me! It made me realize I wasn’t going for me. I was going because others need to hear the message of Jesus Christ and how HIS restored church is here on the earth today! I know this is why I am here! To help bring our other brothers and sisters to the truth! I love this Gospel and the Book of Mormon and I know its the most true book on earth! I am so grateful I didn’t blow my chance to serve a mission! I love you all!

CAR TOWED!

Hola Family!

Another week has come and gone! holy beans! when P-day ends the next one always seems so far away and then it sneaks up on us before I know it! Cray cray stuff right derr.

Okay story time because I’m sure you are dying to hear about the story of the subject because let me tell you! its a good one! So This weekend was stake conference! The missionaries had been asked to sing at the Priesthood Leadership Session. So we sang at the session and after it we when to the apartment of the other elders in our ward to grab something to eat before we went to the adult session! (The other elders are on bikes so we had picked them up.) WE WERE IN THERE APARTMENT FOR 30 MINUTES and when I walked out the front door of their apartment and the car was GONE! STRAIGHT UP GONE! At first I thought one of the other elders had moved it but then I realized I HAD THE KEYS! So I yelled in and I was like "The car is gone!" and the other elders were like "yeah yeah very funny" I said "No! Come look!" To make turn bad to worse, the other Elders bikes were on the back of our car and our cell phones were left in the car! lol @ us! Elder Eldredge and I could not stop laughing and we didn’t know why! Because it was bad news but it was just so funny! Elder Wright on the other hand was not so happy about it. So we asked a little kid riding his bike around the complex what happened to our car and he said it got towed! So we asked a neighbor to borrow their phone to call our vehicle coordinator and he said we had to pay to get it out ourselves. -_- AND I guess in the apartment contract, which we NEVER see, It says that we weren’t supposed to park where we were parked after 5 unless we had a permit. (which we didn’t) So we got a ride to get from another neighbor to go get our car and we had to pay $109 CASH to get our car out. -_- Luckily we had that so we payed it and went to the last 30 minutes of stake conference!

I learned something from this experience. Sometimes life throws us these crazy curve balls and there is nothing we can do about it. No one person was really at fault here. Yeah we can go around saying well "If the tow truck guy didn’t tow it" or "If we were told about the parking rule." But that’s just pointing fingers and blaming someone. What IS up to us, is how we react to the situation. In my case I just laughed at myself and my situation and then went about solving the problem! Which kept me in a good mood even in the midst of a trial! Or I could have been like my companion (Love you buddy ^_^) who became mad and upset and frustrated about the situation which ultimately led to him being like this the rest of the night. There is also a 3rd option. You can look at the situation as a blessing. If the car hadn’t been towed maybe we would have gotten in a wreck on the way back to stake conference. Maybe in the wreck someone died. The truth is we don’t know, but God does. Situations like these happen to us all the time that could easily be keeping us safe from other more dangerous situations. This is why I LOVE President Uchtdorf’s talk from this past conference, Grateful in Any Circumstances, Where he talks a lot about how we can and should be grateful for all the situations in our lives, good or bad! I am grateful for trials in my life and how when we get through them, with the help of Jesus Christ, we can look back on them and see how they have blessed us! Love you all!
