BAPTISM!

This week was really good. I am still trying to adjust to everything but each day is better.

March 17th (Continued)

After I emailed home we went to the zoo with the Greenly Family. He is the ward mission leader and is really cool! After the zoo we went to the mission office to get my bike situation all sorted out! (Yes Mom and Dad I did get my bike) after we got my bike (Its really nice by the way thank you!) When we got home we had dinner and then went to a members house (The Smiths) to print something off for district meeting. My companion told me that Brother Smith wasn’t a member and had me convinced since Sunday that he wasn’t a member! (He really was a member) Oy Vey!

March 18th

This morning we went to the food pantry and did some service there for a few hours. It was really nice to get out and serve some people! After we went on an exchange with the Marble Cliff 1 Elders. That is a bike area (We are a car) so I got to break in my new bike! Rides like a Cadillac! Woo doggy! They didn’t have any appointments set up so we just tracked their area all day. I was with Elder Eldredge We went by a house that exploded last Saturday! it was crazy gone! I Also got cussed at for my first time! THAAAAT was exciting! hahaha

March 19th

Today we had district meeting, which was amazing it was awesome to meet everyone in our district! We talked about asking inspired questions and did some role playing! After we did that we went and biked around our area (We are almost out of miles for the month because the Elder I replaced had a lot of doctors visits he had to go to.) with no real luck there. oh well! after we went to a dinner appointment with the Thielets. They took us to a place called Donatos. Its a pizza place and it was reaaaallllyyyy good! haha.

March 20th

Today was a lot better! haha We met with a guy who just got baptized last week who had some concerns so we helped him out with that! After doing that we had a lesson that we set up with a guy name Shawn but we ended up teaching his brother and grandma! His grandma had stopped me when I went to check the mail and asked why we didn’t come by anymore so I set up an appointment with her! It went super well! His brother could have been more interested! Later that day we went to Correlation meeting with the Greenly’s. Today we biked like 7 miles! good exercise!!

March 21st

Today we had Weekly planning which can take a few hours so that was a party! haha after we met with an investigator just to introduce me to her. Later we went and visited a brother in our ward, Brother Beatty with Cerebral Palsy. He lives on his own but is in a later stage of it. He is super smart and has written a few books! It was good to visit him because my spirits were a little down because we had been getting rejected a lot and so it was good to talk to a man with such an amazing spirit about him!

March 22nd

Today we met with Shawn and his brother Lamar and his grandma again. Holy cow Lamar is on fire! He believes and accepts everything we are teaching him and can feel and recognize the spirit. Today we taught him about the Book of Mormon and the Spirit World (He had a question about it). After we taught them we went to the ward talent show and met some of the members and after we cleaned the church!

March 23rd

What a Sabbath day! Such a good day full of highs and lows but still such a good day! We started they day and went to church. After church we met with a lady and her family who was raised in the church but just got busy with work and life. She invited us to come back on Tuesday. After that we met with Lamar and Grandma again. Taught him about the restoration and Joseph Smith and we invited him to be baptized and he accepted! After that we quickly ate dinner and went to go to a lesson but the investigator cancelled because she wasnt feeling well.

That’s all for this week! I love you all and I will try responding to all your emails!

Also I have uploaded my pictures here! http://www.parkertyler.me/Mission/Marble-Cliff-3-Mission/n-RqMDK/

March 15th Part 2!

Sorry had to run and go to a youth activity that I was helping with! It was really cool! They had 12 guys all dressed up in Boom of Mormon Hero outfits and they were walking around the gym that was decorated like the Book of Mormon city of Bountiful, and they were giving people 5 clues about who they were and you had to guess who they were! that was pretty cool! and then they while people were doing that they flashed the lights and played thunder sounds and made it dark and such and then they had the audio scriptures of 3 Nephi where Christ starts speaking to the people of the Americas and then they had Christ appear! That was pretty cool and then they had President Nilsen bear his testimony of Christ! after we did that we helped out with a "Mormon Mythbusters" class President and Sister Nilsen did for some of the youth where we talked about some of the things that the youth get asked about at school! After we did that we went back to our apartment and knocked on some more doors around there and we got 2 yes 2! new investigators set for meetings next Saturday! Except I got word that I am most likely going to my own area now on monday! (SAD DAY!) I have to experience transfers already! AHHHH!!! 🙁 Its only been 4 days and I don’t want to leave! boo! Oh whale. If thats where the Lord needs me that away I go! And after this we are going home and trying to be in bed by 10:30! hopefully we make it! Probably not! bahaha Hasn’t happened once! xP

anyways Love you all! I pray for you all daily!

I’M AN ASSISTANT!

hahaha just kidding! Well kind of! bahaha I’ll explain later! Things are really really good! I am just going to copy my journal post for a little bit to give you all a run down!

March 11th

My flight from SLC to Phoenix was delayed because one of the engines wouldnt start, which almost made me miss my flight from Phoenix to Columbus! BUT I barely made it! When I got to Columbus nobody was there to pick me up because they were told I had missed my flight and that I was coming it at 9:45 that night! hahahah oooops So I used a pay phone and called the mission office and I told them I was there! So they said they’d send someone my way! Elder Kujanpaa and Elder Nygren (The Assistants) came and picked me up and I went with them to their dinner appointment at a members home (The Dean’s, Cory and Matt) After we went to set up an appointment with an investigator Rick, he is a pretty good guy, more on him in a moment! after that we went to the mission office for them to do some AP things!

March 12th

HOLY MERCIFUL HEAVENS! Today was exhausting! BUT It was still very good! Started the day with a 2.5 mile run! and dang did it kick my butt! I am sooooo out of shape! bahaha gotta love it! Then we went back to the mission office to do some new mission stuff! After we went to a district meeting where I saw Sister McIntyre from good ol Stansbury! It was nice to see a familiar face! After I finally went to the mission home and met President and Sister Nilsen! What amazing people they are! When we were there he said he felt I should remain with the APs for some time until he figured out what to do with me! After we went grocery shopping which was good so I could get some food! haha then we hurried and dropped them off and then and had a lesson with Rick! It went okay, it made me realize how I really needed to get back in the swing of things! The APs have really been helping with that which I am so grateful for! after that we went and knocked some doors for a bit and then went to our dinner appointment and ate with the Cook family! They were really nice! After we went and gave a sister missionary a blessing and then the APs did some paper work!

March 13th

Today was sooooo much better than yesterday! We started working on my new missionary training and that has helped lift my spirits, I was having a really hard time feeling the spirit because that dadgum satan has been really using my past to get down on me! But today was amazing! I seriously could not ask for better people to train me! Today was pretty slow but still good! we went contacting at the local Kroger makes things easier haha that was good! we met a guy named Tyris who we just got to know and just talked to! We got his number and we are setting up a Meetinghouse tour with him and his family! Later we went to dinner with our bishop, Mark Russell, He used to play for the Seahawks! anyways he took us to a Thai food restaurant where we got Coconut Chicken Curry that was soooooo goood! yuuum! After that he took us to an ice cream place that had some of the best ice cream ever! Its all slow churned and homemade!

March 14th

Today was even better than yesterday oh my holy hannah! We went to a New missionary training at OSU, that was for all the new missionaries that had been out for 3 weeks or less. It was definitely a good experience there were 4 workshops that we rotated through, first one was the OSU missionaries took us out contacting on campus (except it is spring break, WHOOPS!) and the second group we practiced transitioning from companion to companion during the lessons, the Third one was really good Sister Nilsen taught it and she basically just asked us how we were doing and made it really rather calming haha, the 4th one was about how to make friends with people which was good too! After the training we ( The APs, and 2 other sets of missionaries) had lunch with President and Sister Nilsen, and that was fun! After we went out and tried to do some service for people. But nobody would really let us so that was rather frustrating but then after we went and contacted in our own apartment complex and we found a new investigator! His name is Kyle and he was telling how he knew there was a God because it didnt make sense how molecules could just magically come together and make life! But he said he has never been to church but he was very interested in learning more! We basically taught him the first lesson on his doorstep and talked for about 20 minutes, and left him some scriptures to read!

Today, March 15th

Today has been even better than yesterday, I know I just said that but still! Right before the alarm went off this morning Elder Kujanpaa, or Elder K as we call him, yells “If I could get everyone to look up here!! You will now call me Snowflake!” It was the funniest thing ever because we were all asleep, including Elder K, and so we didnt know what was going on hahaha! Then today during companion study we were reading and discussing 1 Nephi 13 where it talks about Great Britain (Mother Gentiles) and the Revolutionary War. That was pretty cool! Love you all! I will write more later!
